F 265 Köln corvette of the Braunschweig class in the Kiel naval base: On February 26th, 2023 the new corvette of the Navy was at the Gorch-Fock-Mole in Kiel.
Rare guest at the naval base in Kiel: The corvette Köln (F 265), which is expected to go into service in 2025, was moored at the pier in the naval base in Kiel-Wik. The Köln is a type K130 corvette of the German Navy, also known as the Braunschweig class. The Köln is expected to go into service in around two years, in 2025. The 89 meter long corvette F 265 Köln is the first ship of the second construction lot, which consists of a total of five ships. Overall, the F 265 Köln is now the sixth unit in the Braunschweig class. From the 1st lot of the class 130, 5 corvettes have already been put into service with the German Navy. This took place between 2008 and 2013. The home port of the corvette Köln (F 265) is the naval base Warnemünde (Hohe Düne) in the north of the Hanseatic city of Rostock.
It was only a short visit to Kiel for the naval ship. The corvette Köln had already left the naval base in Kiel on February 27 in the direction of the Kiel Canal with destination Hamburg.
