Lürssen Yacht on a sea trial: 90 meter mega yacht 1601 in the Kiel Canal and in the lock on her way to the Baltic Sea on March 17, 2023.
This is another cool ship that Lürssen Yachts built in their shipyard in Schacht-Audorf in the Kiel Canal. Here the 90 meter long and 14 meter wide superyacht Projekt 1601 lies a few hundred meters in front of the Holtenau canal lock and is waiting to enter the lock. After more than an hour of waiting near the pier of the Adler I canal ferry on the Holtenau side of the canal, the time had come and the yacht 1601 started moving in the direction of the lock chamber. A little later, the lock gate on the other side opened and a sea trial lasting several days in the Kiel Fjord, Kiel Bay and Baltic Sea could now begin for the luxury yacht.
The yacht, named 1601, had left the Lürssen Yachts shipyard in Schacht-Audorf near Rendsburg a few hours earlier. The Lürssen shipyard has not yet provided any information about the client of the 90-metre-long mega yacht with a helipad on board. However, it is suspected that this yacht could possibly be the successor to the 70 meter long yacht “Skat” built by Lürssen almost 20 years ago.

The mega yacht, previously known as Project 1601, started sea trials on the Baltic Sea on March 17, 2023. After a few days at sea, Project 1601 will probably return to the Lürssen shipyard in about a week. And then the Lürssen luxury yacht will again pass through the lock in Kiel-Holtenau on its way through the Kiel Canal.
If everything goes according to plan during the multi-day test drive and everything works as it should, then the yacht 1601 will probably be handed over to the owner in spring 2023.
