A rare guest in the port of Kiel: The Russian pipe-leveling ship Akademik Cherskiy, which had previously laid pipes for the gas pipeline of the controversial Nord Stream 2, was converted here in the port of Kiel. The 150 meter long and 38.5 meter wide Akademik Cherskiy has a large crane at the stern and has been in the port of the state capital Kiel for quite a while. After completion of the work, the Akademik Cherskiy will probably go back to Russia, probably to St. Petersburg or Lomonosov.
