All ships currently in service for rapid combat support are operated by the Military Sealift Command. They can transport more than 177,000 barrels of oil, 2,150 tons of ammunition, 500 tons of dry storage and 250 tons of cold storage. Most of the loading, mostly petroleum products, ammunition and supplies, takes place from various shuttle ships and the fleet suppliers then distribute this landing to ships in the carrier combat group if necessary. This significantly reduces the number of service ships required to travel with carrier combat groups.

There are more photos of USNS Supply here: Image gallery of the USNS Supply fleet

When entering and leaving the naval base in Kiel, the supply needed the support of several tugs.
